Build Trust: Buy the Product First

Approaching a brand and asking for product, services, or promotion can be intimidating, especially if you don’t have an established relationship with the company. At times, there is even a stigma associated with influencers who ask for “free” things (even if that is not the intent of the request). A great way to defuse these assumptions and immediately establish trust with a brand representative is to show that you are already a customer of the brand.

 

If an influencer is already going out of their way (without an agreement or contract) to buy a brand’s product, it shows that he or she is already an established customer. Not only does it provide validity to an influencer’s promotional efforts, but it also gives the influencer a consumer perspective that will better help curate promotional content.
